“2 Millions”

This poem is about the dangers of wealth. A cliche I know, but one worth pondering. I witnessed two people very close to me make quite a transition due to money and it was more than a little startling. It also made me question the idea of money in general and the possibility of voluntary poverty. But that’s another poem.

“2 Millions”

Two millions earned,

success by the world,

happiness sought,

the weight of life

a utopia built,

a rope untightened,

the beacon yet lit,

bright, but not light

the path cast aside,

the turn of refinery,

victory unattained,

remorse, not slight
